Custom hazards can be created whilst creating a RAMs document and saved to appear when creating any future RAMs documents too.
If you don't think that RAMs App has something covered specifically, you can add a custom hazard whilst in step 2 of creating a document. To add a new hazard, first select the relevant hazard group.
Then, on the right-hand side, select the action button. A drop-down menu will appear. To add a new hazard, select the “Add hazard” action.
A pop-up window will appear asking for the hazard name. To create the hazard, enter a name in the text box and then select the “Add hazard” button at the top right.
The custom hazard will now appear in the hazard groups list. The name will be highlighted in red. This is because the hazard has been created but it does not have a linked risk assessment. A hazard must have a risk assessment, or it cannot be added to a document.
To create a risk assessment for the hazard, select the actions button on the right-hand side. A drop-down menu will appear. Select the “Assess Risk” action.
This will load the Risk Assessment page. As the hazard is new, there will be no risk assessments to select. To create the new Risk Assessment, select the “Create new risk assessment” button.
The page will now load the new risk assessment details.
Enter all the required information. To save the Risk Assessment, select the “continue” button at the bottom right.
The page will now show the Risk Assessment which will also be selected by default. Once the correct risk assessment has been chosen, to continue, select “Save and Exit” at the bottom right.
NOTE: There is no limit on the number of Risk Assessments linked to a hazard. More can be created by selecting the “Create new risk assessment” button.
The custom hazard will now be fully setup. It is no longer highlighted in red as the hazard has a risk assessment. It will appear when creating any documents going forward.
